Texas Holdem Poker Rules

To study the poker rules is not complicated, particularly if it is Hold’em poker. Practically all popular poker variations are played with a traditional 52 card deck and any poker table can seat up to 10 players. The game action starts with two persons making the blinds. Then two cards are given face down to every gambler in the game, these two cards are usually known as hole cards. In Pre-flop betting the person next after the big blind is to act first. This gambler may quit the play or stay in the game, if he/she chooses to stay the big blind is raised or called. If there were no raises or reraises pre-flop action finishes by the “big blind” bettor which can choose to check, call the raise if needed, or re-raise. The betting round is completed when all the players post the equal amount of chips into the pot.

In Flop three community cards are dealt on the board. The gamblers check up their cards and start new round of betting. This is followed with Turn and River, during which two other community cards are drawn one after another. Every card dealing is followed by the round of betting. All five community cards at the table is to be used by the gamblers to form their poker hands. The player with the best hand according to the poker hand rankings receives the pot. If the hands tie, in such a case the pot is split. As the basic poker rules state, in Texas Holdem poker the poker players are allowed to play the board that means that they may use all community cards to form their hands.

Texas Hold’em poker with the no limit betting structure is the most widespread poker game. Unlike in the other poker games the gamblers can bet as much as they want at any moment. That’s why All-in option is available in such game. This means that the player can wager all money he or she has. Of course, it is quite risky but most good gamblers prefer No-Limit Hold’em poker as the best opportunity to apply their poker skills and win more.

Omaha Poker Rules

If you are familiar with the poker rules of Hold’em you are ready to play Omaha because the poker rules of both these games are quite similar. Omaha poker is also played with the set of rounds that are the pre-flop, flop, turn and river. In the showdown the hands are compared and the game pot is awarded. The only difference of Omaha game is that instead of two pocket cards the players receive four cards two of which they have to use to make their five cards hand. As a result only three of the community cards can be used to create the hand. The other poker rules of both games do not differ at all.

Seven Card Stud Poker Rules

Seven-Card Stud Poker starts with the antes posting. Then each poker player receives three cards, two - face down and one card - face-up. The second cards deal is one exposed card which is followed by round of betting. This is repeated two times more till the seventh card appears face-down. Thus during the whole game each poker player is dealt three face-down and four exposed cards and any five of seven cards are used to form the hand. The ranks of the hands in Seven-Card Stud poker are the same like in Holdem and Omaha. In fact such poker hand rankings are taken as the standard. In some game versions Joker and thus Five of a Kind are used.

Caribbean Stud Poker Rules

In Caribbean Stud the gamblers try to beat the dealer’s hand. The game starts with the Antes posting. The poker players then get five hidden cards. The dealer gets five card too but one of these cards is face up. The poker players decide what their probabilities are and if to forfeit the hand or continue to play. In order to continue the play the poker player must make bet, which in fact means that the gambler raises as he/she bets the amount equal to the ante bet. In order to win the player’s poker hand is to beat the dealer’s one, moreover, the dealer’s hand must qualify. This means to obtain King and Ace or higher. If the dealer does not qualify the gambler is paid off even money and his or her raise is pushed. According to the poker rules the poker players have chance to make additional wager on obtaining flush or higher. In case of royal flush the player wins the progressive jackpot.

Other poker games

Among other games there are Tri -Card Poker which is played with three cards hands; Lei it Ride which is in fact the version of stud poker played with three hole or pocket and two community cards; two-hand Pai Gow poker game that is in fact the Americanized version of Chinese game. Some of the games are played in High/Low variations, it means that two poker hands, the highest and lowest, win, thus the game pot is split. More complex rules of awarding the pot you will find at the tournaments and progressive games.
